Marrying an underage virgin is no longer prohibited in Swaziland as the country’s Parliament has just passed a law allowing their King to freely marry one.
The law given the King the mandate to marry a girl as young as 14.
This has been effected as Parliament has reduced the age of a girl which the King can marry from 17 to 14.
Said the Parliament’s spokesperson: “By our tradional and culture, the King is not allowed to enter where any other soul has entered, so the law to ensure that he gets into contact with a virgin has been passed accordingly.”
The age has been reduced as a traditional research has found out that most girls are now losing their virginity at the age of 15.
