The people of Mangochi have applauded the positive impact the two water vessels on Lake Malawi, Chilembwe and Illala are making on their lives.
Apart from being cost effective, the happy fish traders and passengers alike have repeatedly described the water vessels as “most dependable and life changing carriages” which have positively impacted on their lives and are yet to create a huge impact in the future.
“Illala and Chilembwe are helping us a lot, because they both have ample space and are equipped with the cooling system in which we are able to store our fish and it remains fresh throughout the journey way up to the market.”
In particular, the beautifully made Illala arrives in Monkeybay as early as 3 O’clock every Thursday morning and departs at around 8 O’clock on its northward journey.
The vessel which is also described as a “floating home” is equipped with homely facilities that makes travelling such an enjoyable and comfortable endeavour, leaving every first time traveler longing for more.
