Comedian Cum Politician Bon Kalindo Arrested For Insulting President Mutharika

Police in Lilongwe have arrested Member of Parliament for Mulanje South Constituency who is also UTM Executive Member, Bon Kalindo.

The politician who is also a reknowned comedian, has been arrested on charges hovering around Inciting Violence and Insulting the Head of State, President Peter Mutharika.

Kalindo is said to have hurled insults at the President when he was addressing UTM crowds at Balaka Police Station following the arrest of two aides of the party’s leader, Saulos Klaus Chilima a week ago.

In his address, Kalindo was defending the two aides while hurling insults at Mutharika as the one who masterminded their arrest.

The outspoken Kalindo has since been taken to the National Police Headquarters at area 30 in Lilongwe.

Police will charge him with Causing Disruptions and Inciting Violence at the Police Station; Insulting the Head of State and Actions likely to cause the Breach of Peace.
