Partners in Action for sustainable Development (PASD) says provision of tangible projects to communities can help to change people’s lives especially in communities facing various challenges.
Executive Director for PASD Amos Chiyenda said this on Wednesday after giving certificates to five members from five villages for contributing much in conserving the environment in Domasi in the area of Traditional Authority(T/A) Malemia in Zomba.
Chiyenda said PASD will continue helping the communities so as to alleviate poverty among the communities in different ways.
“We thought of coming up with this initiative so as to motivate those doing well in environmental management. We would like to encourage other people who are lagging behind to also start managing environment well. We have core- objectives and that’s investing in youths and environment. We know that combining the two is important for the future of the country” said Chiyenda.
In his remarks Group Village Head (GVH) Mtogolo said the initiative is important as many are likely to emulate on the need to plant and take care of the trees
“I have personally motivated the chiefs to sensitize their subjects on the importance of taking care of the trees. I believe people are now able to understand issues of environmental management.” Said GVH Mtogolo.
One of the villagers who received the certificates Romex Makopete said everybody has the duty of conserving environment as climate change affects anyone.
