The main opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) will not attend the Presidential Prayer Breakfast scheduled for Thursday at the New State House in Lilongwe.

In an interview, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Reverend Morris Munthali has confirmed the party will not attend.

Likewise, UTM will also not attend the prayers as has been confirmed by its Publicity Secretary, Dr. Joseph Chidanti-Malunga.

Traditionally, the prayers come barely a couple of days after President Arthur Peter Mutharika shunned Presidential Prayers, which the Public Affairs Committee (PAC) had organised in the same city.

Mutharika had instead sent his presidential runningmate and cabinet minister, Overtone Chimlirenji to represent him.
