It is senseless as well as meaningless for President Peter Mutharika to go to the Shire Valley district of Nsanje during the last days of campaign and lay a ground breaking stone on a fresh project when he hasn’t fulfilled the previous promises, Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Presidential Running mate, Sidik Mia has said.
Mia who is on whistle stop tour in Nsanje and Chikwawa said this when addressing huge crowds of supporters.
Speaking at Khuluvi and Dinde in Nsanje South West, Mia who is also the party’s Vice President said Mutharika has not fulfilled a number of promises for the district,
chief among them, the completion of the World Inland Port.
He therefore said, it is tantamount to insult for the people of Nsanje and the entire valley to be promised a fresh project when the previous ones have not been fulfilled.
During his tour to the valley last Thursday, among other things, President Mutharika had laid a ground breaking stone for the Nsanje-Marka road project.
At the same function, Mia urged supporters to usher into government MCP leaders with MacLean Ndafakale as Member of Parliament (MP) and Lazarus Chakwera as President.
Likewise at Bereu and Ndamera in Chikwawa Central Constituency, Mia urged registered voters to vote for Joseph Ntopa as MP.
He promised the people of the area that once in government, the party will prioritize the construction of the road to Ndamera which is currently in bad condition.
According to the electoral calendar supplied by Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC), the 2019 campaign window closes on Saturday, May 18, 2019.
