One of the country’s long standing professional photographer, Rodgers Moffat has died.
The veteran “man behind the lens” who is also former husband to the local Gospel artist, the late Grace Chinga, is reported to have passed on at the dawn of Tuesday at ABC Clinic in the capital Lilongwe.
On his Facebook wall, as of Tuesday morning, the late Moffat’s son, Steve, wrote: “Sad news; Bambo athu a Rodgers Moffat atisiya.”
Until the time of his death, the late Moffat was serving as official photographer for the opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP).
Many will remember Moffat for his matured and peaceful attitude in moments of conflict, like it was in 2007, when his former late wife Grace filed for divorce in the court of law.
During the trying time, one of the local daily papers reported that, the late Grace had narrated “unprintable words” against Moffat.
When balancing the story, the paper quoted Moffat to have said: “I have lived to love my wife Grace all these years. I wouldn’t stand here and point out weaknesses of my wife. Please give her our house and everything in it. I will just have my camera and start a new life elsewhere.”
Meanwhile, tentative funeral programme indicates that, the remains of the late Moffat will be buried on Wednesday at his home of origin in Mvera, Dowa district.
