TWO DIE, 19 OTHERS SUSTAINED INJURIES IN ROAD ACCIDENT IN NTCHISI

Two people have died while 19 others have sustained injuries in a road accident in Ntchisi on Friday.

according to Ntchisi police publist Gladson M’bumpha ,The deceased have been identified as Mark Banda whose other particulars not advised and Peter Nqumayo of Nqumayo Village in the area of Traditional Authority Mtwalo in Mzimba.

“The accident which happened on Friday, June 14 2019 at Kawamba Village along Kasakula-Mwansambo earth road involved a motor vehicle registration number BT 3227 Mazda Bongo driven by Mphatso Chumachiyenda, 23, of Khwela Village in the area of Traditional Authority Kalumo in Ntchisi”.

“Traffic Police report indicate that on the fateful day, the driver of the motor vehicle was driving from the direction of Kasakula heading Mwansambo with twenty one (21) passengers on board for a football trip at Mwansambo Secondary School in Nkhotakota”Explained M’bumba to MFN.

He added that driver was driving towards Kawamba Village, he failed to negotiate a bend and as a result he lost control of the motor vehicle and eventually swerved to the offside where the motor vehicle overturned three times.

Following the impact, Mr. Mark Banda whose full particulars not advised sustained head injuries and Mr. Peter Nqumayo, a teacher at Kasakula Community Day Secondary School sustained ruptured viscera both died on spot while the driver sustained deep cut wound on the right hand whilst the rest of the passengers escaped with minor injuries and are receiving treatment at Ntchisi District Hospital.

The motor vehicle had its front and rear windscreen and side grasses roof and front part damaged.

Meanwhile, the matter is still under investigation.
