The Bwalo La Chewa Foundation ( BOLA _ CEFO) will send invitation cards to the State president of the Republic of Malawi and Chewa Heritage Foundation ( CHEFO) to its first cultural festival which will see it officially launched in Malawi on 27th July, 2019 in Dowa.
District committee and chapter members have resolved this during a day long meeting organised to have the committee’s effectiveness in readiness for the national launch.
The members expressed hope that CHEFO being an international organisation for the Chewas of Mozambique, Zambia and Malawi will warmly receive the invitation from their brotherly body in good spirit.
On the other hand, Bwalo la Chewa will feel greatly honoured to have the Head of State in the midst of their cultural festival showing culture and education as one.
Speaking during the meeting, Chair of the education committee for Bwalo la a Chewa, Mr. Lotiel Chidambo, said the coming in of CHEFO to the cultural festival in Malawi will seal the bonds of working relationships that exists between the two Chewa bodies.
Chidambo said Bwalo la Chewa and CHEFO are one and have one common agenda of promoting and preserving the Chewa culture regardless of where they are staying in Malawi or outside Malawi.
He expressed hope that members of the CHEFO will join them as this will mark the first, the Chewas in Malawi to have the cultural festival after many years of participating in similar events at Mkaika in Zambia for Kulamba ceremonies.
In his remarks, National Executive Director of the Bwalo la a Chewa Foundation, Rev. Flywell Somanje, said the Chewas beside being called by other tribal names are one hence to work with and support Bwalo la a Chewa activities in Malawi.
Rev. Somanje commended Chewa chiefs who have been living in hidance in protection of their chieftainship positions and are now joining the grouping as having found a good way saying Bwalo la a Chewa is there to live for all the Chewas in Malawi.
He urged all the Chewas living in Malawi to register with the grouping saying it’s the only body that will speak for them in matters of national interests unlike CHEFO which is more like SADC for the Chewas of Mozambique, Malawi and Zambia.
Earlier, Rev. Somanje informed the members that the grouping’s patron, His Royal Highness Paramount Chief Dr. Lundu of Chikwawa, has been admitted at the Blantyre Sevenths Day Adventist hospital.
He asked the members to pray for his life so that he accomplish the goals and aspirations of all the Chewas in Malawi.
