The Malawi Defence Force ( MDF), has been commended for protecting the peace loving citizens who were demonstrating on 4th July from dangerous panga wielding DPP cadets.
On Thursday morning 4th July, MDF soldiers mercilessly beat up DPP cadets who were causing havoc terrorising innocent demonstrators at Chichiri shopping mall in Blantyre.
The soldiers forced the cadets to flee the area after the cadets received a good beating as a lesson to the would be offenders that doing evil things against innocent people protesting for a real purpose, is an offence .
In the reports circulating on the social media, the citizens of Malawi says the soldiers swore to protect Malawi against her enemies both within and outside saying their actions as demonstrated in Blantyre proved that they don’t take for granted the duty of serving the Malawi nation from brutal DPP cadet attacks.
” You were trained to protect civilians, trained not to interfere in politics but to fight for Malawi , reads part of the letter.
The letter says the soldiers’ job abroad and within can tell that their allegiance to the national flag of Malawi is unshakable and for that Malawians bless them and with their everlasting protection.
Speaking in one of the daily papers, newly_ appointed MDF Commander General Vincent Nundwe, said his priority is to see that Malawi is sovereign and also to ensure that Malawi remain peaceful saying the MDF will protect anyone without considering their tribe or anything.
General Nundwe said people have a right to demonstrate when aggrieved and no one should infringe anyone’s right since Malawi is a democratic state.
Civil Society Organisations( CSO) under the banner, Human Rights Defenders Coalition( HRDC) have been organising peaceful demonstrations across the country to force the Mec Chairperson, Justice Dr. Jane Ansah sc, Mec Chief Executive officer and Mec Commissioners, resign for failing to manage the May, 21 tripartite elections.
Justice Dr. Jane Ansah sc, declared the disputed elections free, fair, transparent with the results credible reflecting the will of Malawians.
