POLICE ARREST ROBBERY AND RAPE SUSPECTS, RECOVER RIFLE, STOLEN PROPERTY
In a bid to deal with a spate of robbery with violence and rape cases perpetrated towards residents in low density areas of Chapima heights, Nyambadwe, Sunny Side and New Naperi in Blantyre, Police have arrested several suspects, recovered a rifle and stolen property.
The arrests and subsequent recoveries follow numerous complaints lodged at Blantyre police and its lower police establishments from residents of the mentioned areas between the months of May and June 2019.
This led to institution of aggressive investigations into the matter.
Through the investigation police arrested Kingsley Julio Seven (nicknamed Soche East) DOB 20/05/1973 of Amos village T/A Mchiramwera in Thyolo, Bonface Njale (nicknamed Chiradzulu player) DOB 23/03/1990 of Samba village T/A Likoswe in Chiradzulu, Alfred Meke (nicknamed Chikwawa player)24 of Ling’awa village T/A Ndakwera in Chikwawa and four others in connection to the above offences.
During questioning, the suspects led teams of Police investigators into various locations where they were keeping stolen items including at Baluti village where a Boito Pump Action Gun serial number 40988-04 with six (6) live ammunitions which the gang was using in commiting the crimes was recovered hidden in the bush and wrapped in plastic bag.
Other areas where the criminals attacked include Mapanga where the recovered firearm was stolen, Mpingwe, Kanjedza and Chigumula under Limbe Policing.
Meanwhile some of the recovered items which have been positively identified by the owners include
4 laptop( Toshiba, Accer, and HP) computers, 8 cell phones, two plasma television screens, laptop bags, amplifiers, beddings just to mention a few.
The suspects will be brought before the courts soon to answer over five charges of Robbery with violence, Rape and receiving stolen property contravening the penal code.
The Police are carrying on with investigations to effect more arrests and recover even more property.
