Admarc Selling Rotten Maize In Chikwawa: Who Authorized It?

Hungry people in pursuit for the staple food maize at Chikwawa boma Admarc had a nightmare in broad daylight when on Wednesday, the depot personnel offered them rotten maize to buy and take home to feed their families.

According to information sourced by this publication, the depot was selling the stale commodity at MK150 per kilogram (Kg) translating into MK7,500 per 50 Kg.

The above selling price is relatively cheaper as compared to the MK300 per Kg price at which vendors are selling which is double as much.

Still more, stale and cheaper, Admarc is allowing up to only 20 kgs to be sold to every willing individual.

When approached, authorities at the market declined to devulge any information but when contacted, the organisation’s Public Relations Officer, Agness Ndovi asked for more to establish if the claim that their depot in the Shire Valley district of Chikwawa was selling rotten maize is true or false.
