Nundwe said this in his speech at the army headquarters in Lilongwe during the “Sword of Command Handover Ceremony” which is an ancient symbolic military tradition that depicts handover over of power.
The new Army General said, he is geared to keep the army professional and disciplined in order to maintain the good reputation, which for a long time, throughout the decades, the Malawi Army has been known with both locally and internationally.
After handing over the sword, the outgoing commander, Griffin Spoon Phiri wished the new commander well as he discharge his duties.
Having served 41 years in the armed forces, the outgoing commander, Spoon Phiri has held the highest ranking position of commander for a period of 3 years.
