The Human Rights Defenders Coalition ( HRDC), has revealed that three prominent politicians, Ben Phiri, Nicholas Dausi and Charles Mchacha, are alleged to be prime suspects in the petro-bombing of Mr. Timothy Mtambo’s house and property in Lilongwe.
The unknown thugs primely suspected to be DPP cadets invaded the house of Mr. Timothy Mtambo, HRDC Chairperson with 5L petro-bombs setting ablaze a car.

The incident has occurred just days after several threats against Mr. Mtambo and his HRDC which has been organising massive demonstrations to force Mec Chairperson Justice Dr. Mrs. Jane Ansah sc to resign for allegedly unprofessional conduct of the May, 21 Tripartite elections.
Their have been several leaked social media reports of suspected DPP cadets planning to assassinate Mtambo beside death threats with the recent one been connected to a Nigerian business tycoon based in Lilongwe.
Speaking during the HRDC news conference in Lilongwe, HRDC member, Rev. Mac Donald Sembereka, said the trio ; Phiri, Dausi and Mchaka have been meeting at the house of Mr. Mchacha planning the alleged plots of terrorist attacks.
Rev. Sembereka urged Malawians to stand up for this malpractice saying the HRDC believes that the cadets are being sent to destroy peoples property under the trio’s influence.
Last Week, the Malawi Congress Party ( MCP) said the petro-bombings have formed a pattern pointing to the fact that there’s one entity or person, local or natural, who is planning and executing these terrorist attacks.
MCP Secretary General Eisenhower Mkaka, warn the DPP and its Tippex President that his days are numbered saying the party’s exercise of restraint should not be taken for foolishness.
Mkaka demanded the Malawi Police Service which has been compromised, to rise to the occasion and task and bring to book whoever has been involved in these malicious attacks.
In August, 2019, the office of the CHRR in area 9, Lilongwe was petro-bombed by thugs which left a security guard heavily injured following the beatings he received after the guard failed to disclose the direction of Mtambo’s home.
