KAYEMBE THANKS PEOPLE FOR VOTING HIM
Newly elected Dowa West parliamentarian, Dr. Abel Ephraim Kayembe, has thanked his constituents for voting him back into the National Assembly after a 5 year break.
Kayembe said his constituents had trust in him saying it wasn’t easy for an independent candidate like him to sail through but thanks to the Lord for making the final decision in the peoples heart.
In 2009, Dr. Kayembe won the Dowa West seat under the MCP flagship but later dumped it to join the Peoples Party( PP) led government of Dr. Joyce Banda.
Angered by this political nomad, people of the area voted him out for an MCP candidate, Alexander Kusamba Dzonzi.
Speaking in an interview, Dr. Kayembe promises developments to the area being agricultural rich where most of tobacco is being grown on a large scale in the district.
Dr. Kayembe lamented that most of the bridges in the area are in dilapidated state a development which is a wake up call to him and the communities to start thinking of how best to address the challenge.
He said bridges and road network open other developments saying people of the area are failing to mourn one another crossing to the other side to Lilongwe and Kasungu in times of funerals due to dilapidated bridges and bad roads.
The MP said Dzoole, Mdika and Thiwi bridges are his major concern that he will work day and night to have the bridges fully functional.
He said his other main focus besides bridge and road construction projects is water development saying most of the areas do not have good and portable water which is not only a challenge for the people of Dowa West alone but the entire Dowa district.
Dr. Kayembe, then, expressed optimistic that his coming back as an MP for the constituency will produce an impact interms of tangible development projects, appealing to the constituents to forget about the elections results for the good of Dowa West.
