Local Government Minister, Ben Phiri Splashes Money, Spoil Vendors With Booze
Senior Minister in the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) cabinet, Ben Phiri has over the weekend spoiled curios vendors in Blantyre with beers before splashing them with MK10 Million, sources have confided.
The DPP Executive Member is said to have given vendors the money so that they can use it for their experiences when they will embark on a mission to stop and disturb the anti-Jane Ansah demonstrations slated for Monday next week.
During his interaction with the vendors, Phiri persuaded them to do anything they can to stop the airport and boarder shutdown demonstrations and also to spot all ring leaders.
Organisers of the anti Jane Ansah demonstrations, the Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) had last week accused some cabinet ministers mainly Nicholas Dausi, Charles Mchacha and Ben Phiri for masterminding petrol bomb attacks on its leaders.
The accusation was made after some unknown people petrol bombed the house of HRDC Chairperson, Timothy Mtambo in Lilongwe.
The DPP is being accused of resorting for the offensive in trying to suppress critics through intimidation and attacks on opposition and civil society leaders.
