Ekwendeni Hammers Spit Fire.
Ekwendeni Hammers have restored their lead in the Northern Region Football Association (NRFA) premier division after beating Chintheche FC by five goals to one.
Hammers took advantage of the home ground advantage at Chibabvi in the city of Mzuzu to out play the equally charged opponents from the lakeshore district of Nkhatabay.
Ekwendeni Hammers surrendered their first round lead on the league’s log stadings to Baka City of Karonga due to a poor show in some of their last assignments in which they failed to collect maximum points.
Sensing danger that they might fail to earn the already smelling super league promotion Hammers had to engage a serious approach in the Sunday fixture which was played before a very huge vocal crowd.
Some of the female spectators who came to watch the match could not stop singing in praise of the home team and were dearly rewarded when their supported team scored goals just for fun.
Hammers have now 38 points from 17 games paired with Zolozolo United who have the same points they have played a game more, while Baka City are now third with 37 points.
And here are some of the results of games played on Sunday in the Mk5 million NRFA premier division which is sponsored by Simama and sons.
Favored Stars 1 – 1 Baka City
Mzimba YB 0 – 2 Zolozolo United
Ekwendeni Hammers 5 – 1 Chinthenche
