Body Of Zim’s Former President, Robert Mugabe Flown Back Home From Singapore

The body of Robert Mugabe, former President and founding father of the Republic of Zimbabwe has on Wednesday been flown back from Singapore where he died in hospital.

The arrival of Mugabe’s remains will lead to the state funeral and burial on Sunday at a place which is not yet known.

After arrival, Mugabe’s body has been taken to his original home village of Kutama, west of the capital Harare.

Reports by the local media in Zimbabwe indicates that at his Kutama village, the former President who dominated the country’s leadership for four decades has been mourned as a hero.

Official program indicates that on Thursday, Mugabe’s body will be put for public viewing at Rufaro stadium.

Rufaro stadium with a 35,000 seater capacity was where the late Mugabe has in 1980 taken oath of office as Prime Minister when the former colonial prime minister, Ian Smith handed over power.

The late Mugabe’s nephew, Adam Molai had led the funeral delegation from Singapore where the late Mugabe was hospitalized since April.

There was a private Holy Mass officiated by a Zimbabwean Catholic priest before the departure from Singapore.
