HRDC Leaders And UTM Veep Refuge At MDF Camp

HRDC leader McDonald Sembereka and other officials including UTM Vice President Michael Usi have sought refuge at Malawi Defence Force (MDF) camp at Chichiri after DPP supporters disrupted an HRDC organised anti-Jane Ansah protest march in Blantyre.
Sembereka has confirmed in a telephone interview that the protest leaders are seeking MDF escort to allow the protest to proceed.
Meanwhile, police are trying to disperse a group of demonstrators at Ginnery Corner while DDP supporters are still chanting freely in the streets outside COMESA Hall.
Police fired teargas at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in order to disperse demonstrators who had sought refuge inside the hospital’s premises.
