Here Comes 90 Million FDH Bank Cup
The FDH Bank has announced a new partnership with the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) in which the bank will now be sponsoring football competition to a tune of K90 million.
Announcing the package in Blantyre on Thursday, one of the banks managing trustees, Levi Nkunika said his bank partnered with FAM at a time when football was at its lowest level and now the results are satisfactory.
“We started sponsoring the Malawi national team in August2016, we have not come to sponsor football at a time when tremendous progress is being appreciated in our beautiful game, and we shall continue sponsoring K60 million national team sponsorship,
“We at FDH Bank we focus at growth and if we follow football you will find that Malawi football is fast growing, you look at positive results and structures the football leadership has put in place ,” Nkunika said.
And in his remarks the visibly jovial FAM President Dr. Walter Nyamilandu described the development as the opening of a new chapter in the history of Malawi football, he thankedthe bank for the trust it has demonstrated in the leadership of the association which he says will go a long way in talent identification and development.
“We shall go and administer the game of football at all levelswhile identifying talent, we are not only looking at football at elite level, this is the study from the bottom to the top which is providing a fertile ground for the Malawi national team,
“Sponsors confidence based on the potential is very important, FDH has made the package complete which shall assist in strengthening competition at all levels for the development of our national team, FDH has filled the gap left by Carlsberg,” Nyamilandu said.
A total of 68 teams will be battling out in the competition and the winning team shall be cutting home a hooping K25 million while the runners up shall get K8 million.
The FDH Bank Cup shall be played from May to Septembernext year and will run concurrently with the Super League,and also there shall be some other individual awards.
