WOMAN STEAL A BABY IN CHITIPA
Unknown woman is reported to have stolen a three month old baby girl in the boarder district of Chitipa Police in Chitipa District on Tuesday.
The baby was stolen right at home by a woman who pretended to be seeking shelter at Katutula Village in Traditional Authority Mwaulambia in the district.
A cording to the Police Public Relations Officer Gladwell Saka, the unknown woman familiarized herself with the mother of the child, Mester Nawala 40 and requested for an accommodation.
“She was allowed to spend a night at Nawala’s house at the seating room together with other three children, while the mother and her 3 month old baby slept in her own bedroom,
“The following morning, around 0400hrs, the mother discovered that the baby was nowhere to be seen and the visitor has disappeared,” Saka said
Searching for the woman and the child was conducted around the village but to no avail.
Meanwhile , police in the district is appealing to the general public to come forth with information that may lead to the arrest of woman and recovery of the baby to report to any nearest police station.
The police and other stakeholders advocating for Children’s rights such as Foundation for Children’s Rights (FCR) have always warned people against trusting strangers in the protection of their children.
