MDF SOLDIERS WANTS PEACE KEEPING MONEY BACK
Concerned Malawi Defence Force( MDF)soldiers have penned their Commander- In- Chief ,president professor Peter Mutharika and the DPP for an explanation on why they have been given less money for peace keeping missions.
The UN standard rate , gives each soldier 1410$ per months and the Malawi government has been giving them 1100$ for 7 months and do not know where their money for 5 months has entered into what account number.
This is contained in a letter to Mutharika, General Vincent Nundwe and Director of Military Operations ( CMO), warning government to give them back their money before taking the next course of action.
In the letter circulating on the social media, the soldiers wants government to make it clear to them on why they are being deducted 770$ from Air Malawi leave flight charges , wondering the force leave with such exobitant costs.
” DRC is very close to Malawi and there’s no way we can be deducted Mk 500 thousand air ticket as if DRC is in Europe ” reads part of the letter.
The soldiers questions government on the criteria used to deduct 20$ to the new contingents while in the past, this money was been given to them as per government responsibility to give them allowances.
They claim that the system of stealing peace keeping money started a very long time ago, reminding the DPP government that enough is enough that they are not hoes for digging money to the DPP.
During the tripartite elections campaign trails , UTM president, Dr. Saulosi Klaus Chilima alerted the MDF soldiers that government had been deducting their money for peace keeping missions alleging that the money is being used by other selfish people enriching themselves at the expense of the poor soldiers.
Dr. Chilima advised the soldiers not to vote for DPP so that the truth prevails for those involved to face justice.
