Need to have permanent leader of opposition-Nankhumwa Calls.

Leader of the house has advised Malawi Congress Party (MCP) to appoint a permanent leader of opposition as one way of respecting the law of the house

The leader Kondwani Nankhumwa said the Law of the house does not allow having an interim leader for quite a long time

Nankhumwa said this today during a closing session of the 2nd 48th Session of Parliamentary sitting in Lilongwe

Nankhumwa also asked the house to respect the speaker of the house in order to raise a higher status of the speaker and also avoid politicizing important issues in the house

Apart from that, Nankhumwa called upon the house to recognize the welfare of former Members of Parliament because a good number of them as of now cannot afford to support themselves in so many things

He added that former MPs contributed alot to social, political and economic development of the country therefore it is very important to be recognized

Responding to the issue of choosing a permanent leader of opposition, Interim opposition Leader Robin Lowe said their position as a Party is that they are there by default and they are waiting for the court ruling on their case
