The Mzuzu youth caucus has called for the firing of minister of Homeland Security and Director General of Immigration saying they have failed to deliver according to their mandate to Malawians. Chairperson for the grouping, Gomezgani Nkhoma alleges that failure to deliver by the offices these two hold is as a result of unchecked corruption, negligence and immature politics which in turn has affected issuing of passports among other things. FDH Bank plc has donated K61.6 million to Mary’s Meals organization to facilitate its feeding programme at Chiwambo Primary School in Mulanje District. The bank’s Head of Corporate and Investment Banking, Kawawa Msapato says they intervened after seeing the good work that the organization is championing in ensuring that children attend school and that their needs are taken care of. “Mary’s Meals is doing a lot of work in feeding over a million children in government schools. The Smallholder Farmers Fertiliser Revolving Fund of Malawi (SFFRFM) has asked government to replenish its warehouses with 89 000 metric tonnes (MT) of fertiliser used to implement a government-funded inputs starter-pack programme in 1998. During the United Democratic Front (UDF) administration, government introduced a starter-pack programme to help smallholder farmers access fertiliser and seed as one way of promoting food security.
