Illovo sugar Malawi has assured Malawians that it has started oversupplying the market in order to ensure that enough sugar is available on the market.
Illovo sugar Malawi Managing Director Lekani Katandula said this on the sidelines of a visit by the minister of trade and Industry. Katandula said the company is now able to supply over 660 tones of sugar which is above normal supply.
He said this will reduce demand on the market which will in turn restrain the increase of the price of the commodity.
He has since disclosed that on Friday the company has managed to supply 700 metric tonnes of sugar on the local market.
The minister of trade and Industry is visiting the Illovo sugar factory to appreciate what the company is doing in the wake of the scarcity of sugar.
