By Vincent Gunde

The Centre for Democracy and Economic Development Initiatives (CDEDI), Bon Kalindo and Limpopo FMs online Nkhanga zaona programme Producer Comrade Mtanyiwa, have accused Malawi Police Chief Madam Yolamu of telling lies that the police have arrested panga wielding thugs that have been disrupting peaceful demonstrations in Lilongwe.

There is mounting pressure from the international community and donors over the country’s silence to arrest panga wielding thugs covering their faces with masks so that they should not be identified, these people have been causing havoc to peaceful demonstrators in Malawi.

Interestingly, the citizens have identities of the thugs and where they are living in locations and their businesses but police in Malawi have been failing to arrest them suspected of being sponsored by a party in government-the MCP.

Speaking through an audio clip, visibly angry speaking Kalindo has advised Madam Yolamu never and ever to fool the world that the police in Malawi have arrested the thugs in question challenging her to come out clean by providing identities of the arrested thugs that are in police custody.

Kalindo said Madam Yolamu is running away from international pressure that she has assured the donor partners that the arrested thugs will soon be taken to court to answer their charges reminding her that the Police’s Legal Advisor advised her to speak the truth but she has changed tone to lies to defend the police.

He has assured the international community and the donors that the police in Malawi have made no arrests to this day advising Madam Yolamu to tread carefully on lies defending the police that the position she is holding is not for life.

“If I am lying that the police have not arrested the thugs till this day, come and arrest me, this is the month of December, when government is used to arrest me,” said Kalindo.

He has joined the CDEDI giving the Police Chief Madam Yolamu 48 hours to bring identities of thugs and parading them for Malawians to bear witnesses that the police have acted on the concerns of the peaceful protesters in Malawi.

On his part, Comrade Mtanyiwa said it is sad that senior Police Officers of Area 3 and Area 30 Assistant Superintendent and Traffic Police officers are behind covering their faces with masks terrorizing peaceful protesters in Malawi.

Mtanyiwa said the Radios reporters had travelled and visited Lumbadzi, Kanengo, Kawale, Lingadzi and Namitete Police Stations, among other stations where police officers there have been expressing unaware of the arrested thugs.

He has challenged Madam Yolamu that while she is parading the thugs, she should inform Malawians which Police Station in Malawi was keeping these thugs reminding her that time to fool the citizens is over.
