Four men are behind bars for allegedly razing down 15 hectares of tea worth millions of kwacha belonging to Limbuli Tea Estate; a subsidiary of Eastern Produce Malawi.
Mulanje Police spokesperson Innocent Moses identifies the suspects as Amos Willy, Patrick Mawindo, Madalitso Mawindo and Thomas John.
Moses says in July this year, unknown people set ablaze the said property and authorities reported to police.
“Officers instituted investigations that led to the arrest of the four suspects who have since been identified by the reporter, Mr Frank Chabwera, on behalf of the company,” adds Moses.
He says the four will appear in court soon to answer applicable charges.
All the suspects hail from Maliyera Village in the area of Traditional Authority Njema in Mulanje District.
