The Flames are in Pot Three of the draw alongside Namibia, Mauritania, Guinea Bissau, Niger, Libya, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Gambia, Angola and Comoros.
The qualifiers are expected to start in June.
Malawi will be hoping for back-to-back qualification to the Afcon finals having reached the round-of-16 during the 33rd edition in Cameroon.
South African Lucas Radebe and Ivory Coast’s legend Solomon Kalou will be assistants of the draw.
