Ndirande Mgwirizano Muslim Women and YSAN Inspirations visit Thyolo female inmates

Ndirande Mgwirizano Muslim Women and Y SAN Inspirations on Tuesday visited and cheered up female inmates at Thyolo Prison where the authorities hailed the two faith organisations for sharing a meal with the inmates.

Thyolo Prison Public Relations Officer, Sub-Inspector Robert Sankhani, expressed gratitude for the visit, saying the visit was a demonstration of human gesture and source of inspiration to the inmates.

“We also value spiritual transformation. The visit by Ndirande Mgwirizano Muslim Women and Y SAN Inspirations deeply touched the inmates spiritually,” added the prison spokesperson.

He said the gesture was significant as was complimentary to Malawi Prison Services obligation to serve inmates better with food.

“This gesture significantly supports governments efforts in providing for inmates,” Sub Inspector Sankhani added.
The two organisations brought rice and relish, cooked the food stuff right at the prison and shared with the inmate on top of donating clothes to the females.

Chief Executive Officer for Y SAN Inspirations, Tariq Ichamisa, said Y SANs mission was to share joy, love and encouragement to those in difficult moments, citing female inmates at Thyolo Prison.

“We engage in various activities with the inmates, including sharing a meal, which symbolizes unity before Allah,” said Ichamisa.

He added that the initiative is ongoing, with plans to visit other areas to spread love, motivation, and hope.

“Helping doesnt require much. Simple contributions like soap, clothes, sugar, or salt can make a huge difference.

“As the saying goes, Sharing is Caring,” Ichamisa said and appealed to organisations and people of good will to join in reaching out to those in difficult moments with food and other items that could make a difference.

Chairlady of Ndirande Mgwirizano Muslim Women, Marriam Jiya, said their visit was meant to remind the female inmates that Allahs love is unconditional.

“Our message to the inmates was that, we are all equal before Allah despite their circumstances. Sharing a meal and joy together is our way of showing them that being in prison is not the end.

“There is always hope, and Allahs love never fades,” Jiya said and disclosed that the funds for the visit were raised through a cleanup fundraising event held from Ndirande Market to Chinsewu in Blantyre.
