Former Blantyre City legislator who is now based in the United States of America (USA) Allan Ngumuya, has given credit to musician Dr. Patience Namadingo for his courage standing before President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera at Sanjika Palace in Blantyre telling him openly that the youth of today are not the same as of yesterday.

Ngumuya said the youths of today are more informed, more vocal and are demanding action saying Namadingo posed the real question to President Chakwera-“Why has it taken 4 years for the government to hold a dialogue with the youth and why there were no genuine engagement all this time?”

Standing courageously before President Chakwera, Namadingo said now, at the last minute-when the meal has already been eaten and shared among the baby boomers-the youth are being called in to talk through SONA for youth.

Writing on his face book page, Ngumuya said after everything-SONA for youth engagement, each participant was given K200,000 questioning for what purpose was the money, to cover travel expenses within Blantyre or was it a form of bribery?

Ngumuya has claimed that over K30 million was spent on the event of engaging the youth of Blantyre alone at Sanjika Palace wondering if the same happened in Lilongwe and Mzuzu, that means close to K100 million will be wasted on the gatherings that do not change the reality on the ground.

He has asked President Chakwera that if he truly care for Malawi, he should seriously address hunger, the soaring price of maize, the rising cost of all essential goods, the persistent fuel shortage, and the unaffordable cost of fertilizer, and many others.

The Former Parliamentarian has assured President Chakwera that if the listed issues are not addressed, Malawians will choose a new leader, they will not return to the old ways of governance that have repeatedly failed them.

He said Malawians cannot afford to recycle failure urging them to look behind party politics and choose a leader who has the vision, experience, and capability to transform Malawi encouraging Malawians to give Dr. Dalitso Kabambe a chance.

“He is young, educated, experienced, and has worked in 3 different governments, he understands the system and knows how to fix it, let’s not be fooled by those who only seek power for their own benefit,” said Ngumuya.
