ACB raids Immigration Department over corruption allegations

Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has on Wednesday evening raided the Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services premises in Lilongwe following allegations that corruption is derailing issuance of passports.

This follows ‘a month of undercover investigation’, ACB acting Director General Hillary Chilomba has said.

“We have people who are paying more than what is demanded of a normal passport, we have lots of people cutting corners to get passports, there are serious allegations of corruption which we have to end today,” Chilomba he said.

The exercise is expected to take a number of days to help the ACB collect and collate the information.
