At least 67 leaders from other countries and 20 dignitaries from various organisations have been invited to this year’s BRICS Summit to be held from 22nd to 24th August in South Africa.
BRICS is a grouping of leaders of five major emerging economies namely Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
The Summit will be held in person for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg.
During the meeting, delegates will discuss economic, political, and strategic issues, with the aim of enhancing cooperation and coordination among member states.
The Summit is expected to discuss the expansion of the group by adding new members, admission criteria and guiding principles
It is against this background that BRICS extended invitations to other world leaders, including Dr. Lazarus Chakwera, President of Malawi.
