Castel Pumps K7 Million Into Exclusive Dinner Dance

Castel Malawi Limited has made an injection of K7 million into an exclusive dinner and dance featuring Lawi and Awilo Longomba slated for 29 April 2023 at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe. The event has been organized to offer Malawians a moment of fun and dance with the ‘Karolina’ hit-maker. The UK-based Longomba who originally is from the Democratic Republic of Congo is well known internationally for his music and mesmerising dancing skills. Lawi expressed excitement to be sharing a stage with one of Africa’s great artists and encouraged Malawians to be part of the event as it is going to be a night to remember. Apart from Castel, some of the partners include Epic Group and Amal Brand.

Podcast Malawi has today handed over a K450,000 cheque to Reggae Dancehall artist Chizmo Njuchi at a ceremony which took place at Podcast's studios in Lilongwe. It follows an online fundraiser organised by the platform meant to raise one year house rentals for the artist, who revealed in a podcast how he had been struggling to make enough money to support his basic needs. Podcast Malawi is a local YouTube channel that gives platform to different people to tell stories about their lives and what they do. Prominent musician Lucius Banda has observed that the current crop of artists is struggling to come up with quality music because they have prioritized competition above everything else. Banda has stressed that most of the substandard music enjoying airplay cannot breakthrough to the international scene, as most of it is produced impatiently. Banda is popular for his timeless song releases that talk about social issues, embedded in enticing lyrical content, with his latest hit titled ‘Bisa’ enjoying airplay across local radio stations as well as streaming sites.

Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Honourable Dr. Kondwani Nankhumwa is this evening, Christmas Eve, attending a fundraising music event for Blantyre SDA centenary celebrations. The event is taking place at Crossroads Hotel in Blantyre. Other guests include the President for SDA Pastor Timothy Nyirenda, Pastor Thomas, Pastor Msuka, and Pastor Sikiya all from SDA, and Evangelist Dr. Ernest Kaonga, among others. The main centenary celebrations are slated for September 2023. Some of the notable music outfits include Zenengeya Family from Lilongwe and Namasalima Singers from Mulanje. Honourable Nankhumwa, who also serves as DPP Vice President for the Southern Region, has donated K1 million towards the pursuit. The total amount required is K70 million.

According to the group's Chairperson Luwiza Botha, the 10-track CD will be launched at the church's hall from 1 pm and has songs like Chauta ngwachifundo, Kwa Yesu kwa Yesu, Titamande Mulungu, Katibadwira kamwana, Ine ndimwe pakuchimwa, ndikubwera kuti ndidzipereke among others. Castel Malawi Limited has committed K10 million to Epic Lifestyle ahead of the Kizz Daniel concert at Lilongwe Golf Club tomorrow. The company's regional manager Andrew Ngombende says they work together with Epic Lifestyle hence supporting them. Epic Group Chief Executive Officer Yollam Kawanga says they are delighted with the coming on board of Castel Malawi with the K10 million support. Kizz Daniel famed for the song Buga will arrive in the country this morning ahead of the concert tomorrow where he will share the stage with 18 local acts including Onesimus, Tay Grin and Black Missionaries.

The eminent music festival which starts from 30th to 2nd October at Kambiri Beach in Salima continues to earn support from the corporate world at a time when Zambian Yo Maps has been named the first international act.
