Chiponda commissioned World Health Organization funded TB Resistance Isolation ward

Minister of Health Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda has encouraged people feeling symptoms of tuberculosis (TB) to seek medical help quickly in hospitals so they get assisted.

Chiponda made the call on Tuesday at Nsanje District Hospital after she officially commissioned the World Health Organization funded TB Resistance Isolation ward.

She said TB is treatable, arguing that its drugs are readily available in all public health facilities across the country.

“It is really in our interest to make sure that nobody should die of TB in Malawi,” Chiponda said.

The minister also commended Unicef for supporting her ministry with 150 motorcycles through its Drive Direct project to ease mobility challenges in supplying medical materials within communities.

In his remarks, Nsanje Central MP Kafandikhale Mandevana, who represented lawmaker for the area, asked government to construct health facilities in remote areas.
