High Court Judge Simeon Mdeza has instructed the embattled opposition Democratic Progressive Party-DPP to hold its convention within 90 days.
This is contrary to the resolution the party’s National Governing Council made on July 3 this year in Mangochi that the elective conference would be there in July 2024.
The meeting also elected a disciplinary committee chaired by Dr. George Chaponda.
But Judge Mdeza has also nullified the NGC meeting, describing it as a sham and threat to intra-party democracy.
DPP Vice President for the South Kondwani Nankhumwa, Secretary General Grelzeder Jeffrey, Jappie Mhango and Yusuf Nthenda had filed an application for the court to nullify the NGC proceedings and resolutions.
