For the first time, the Scorchers will have a friendly match on a FIFA Women’s International Window and the team’s mentor Lovemore Fazili beams with confidence this will put his charges in good shape ahead of the 2023 Cosafa – Council of Southern Africa Football Associations Women’s Championship.
“The matches will help our technical panel to have a good assessment of the team before the COSAFA Tournament unlike in the previous outings.
“This is the first time in many years that we are playing friendly matches before a tournament,” says Fazili.
Football Association of Malawi – FAM has secured two international friendly matches against Seychelles.
FAM Communications Director, Gomezgani Zakazaka says for the past few weeks, they have been discussing with Seychelles on the possibility of hosting them in Blantyre.
The deal is on and Seychelles are expected in the country on September 23.
The scorchers will host their visitors on September 25 and September 28 at the Mpira Stadium in Blantyre.
Meanwhile, Fazili has named his final 18-member-squad from the 28 players that went for pre-camp.
The players include defenders Mary Major from MDF Lioness, Lynes Mbera Shabel Bengo from Ntopwa FC and Chikondi Dube from Silver Strikers.
Some of the regular players expected to join the team are China based duo of Chawinga sisters, Tabitha and Temwa, Sabina Thom from TP Mazembe, Vanessa Chikupira and Mary Chavinda from FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Chimwemwe Madise from Lusaka Diamonds.
