Government has called on researchers, policy makers, representatives of civil society, academicians and other stakeholders to patronize the 9th African Population Conference slated for May 20 to 24, 2024 in Lilongwe.

Addressing members of the press in Blantyre Saturday, Minister of Finance, Simplex Chithyola Banda says Malawi is advantaged to host this year’s conference that will attract 600 delegates from various countries across Africa.

“We are going to share our ideas on the issues that the country has at hand and we will make sure that our youths from higher learning institutions have their capabilities exposed,” says Chithyola.

On the other hand, Minister of Information and Digitization, Moses Kunkuyu has called on people to demonstrate unity and love during the conference’s period.

“Individuals who ply their business in Lilongwe will also benefit from this conference. Economic activities will be boosted,” he added.

The conference will be held under the theme “Road to 2030: Leveraging Africa’s Human Capital to Achieve Transformation in a World of Uncertainty”.
