
Inspector General of Police Merlyn Yolamu says the law enforcement will not side with any police officer who will be found indulging in cases of human trafficking and money laundering.
Speaking Monday afternoon during an interaction with Police officers, Yolamu encouraged the officers to desist from harbouring foreign nationals saying the institution is investigating such cases through the professional standards unit before taking any action.
On shortage of vehicles facing a number of Police stations, the Inspector General says procurement of vehicles within the service has reached an advanced stage with priority to be given to those who have are in a dire situation.
She also disclosed that the organization will also be distributing uniforms to police officers with priority to be given to recruits who will be undergoing practicals soon.
Officer In-charge for Karonga Police Station, Assistant Commissioner of Police Edwin M’nkhambo decried shortage of vehicles and motivation in form of promotions as some of the factors affecting police operations in the district.
