In the latest dramatic turn of events, MultiChoice Malawi-MCM has obtained an injunction stopped Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority-MACRA from taking any action against it and its employees.
Ironically, this comes after MACRA indicated they have approved MCM’s proposed DStv subscription fees hike.
Among others, the injunction restrains MACRA from making any enforcement measures on the services until the on-going judicial review case on the matter.
But MACRA Director General Suleman has told #NationOnline that MCM simply wants to dodge a whip; arguing its DStv signals are landing in Malawi illegally.
“Our legal team will contest this and regulatory enforcement will take place against any illegal operator as per law and regulation,” says Suleman.
