Multichoice Africa Holdings-MAH says resumption of DSTV services it stopped rendering in Malawi awaits court’s determination.
It sayd since the matter regarding services fee hike between Multichoice Malawi-MCM and Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority-MACRA has been heard and is pending judgment, further updates will be shared after that.
Last week, MACRA announced that it had agreed with MCM that DSTV services should resume on September 8, 2023, announcement. That didn’t materialize.
Meanwhile, MACRA has approved latest subscription fees that MCM proposed.
“Now that the tariffs have been submitted to and considered by the Authority, the Authority expects DSTv services to resume in Malawi,” reads a statement signed by MACRA Director General, Daud Suleman.
MAH earlier withdrew its DStv services in Malawi after MACRA had obtained a court injunction against proposal to hike its subscription fees.
Later, Information Minister Moses Kunkuyu ordered Macra to vacate its injunction and opt for an out of the court settlement of the matter.
