Malawi President Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera has just concluded his close to one week trip to Saud Arabia and Egypt.
A two way trip , is so significant to Malawi because it opens new window of hope in as far as bringing trade opportunities is concerned.
While in Egypt President Chakwera mingled with various business players and trade commission, that connection alone has brought great opportunity to Makawi but on top of it all , the president held one one meeting with the Organizers of the fair , Afrim Bank.
The president held talks with Prof. Benedict Oramah, Afreximbank’s President and Board Chairperson, in which the bank has committed to support the Malawi Government’s efforts to secure an Extended Credit Facility, as well as finance the government’s comprehensive industrialisation plan to significantly increase exports in the country.
In an interview with the press hours before his departure, President Chakwera stressed the need to diversify Malawi’s export portfolio by creating goods that can generate vast sums of revenue by way of value addition.
