The Roads Authority says it will close the M1 stretch at Kalinyeke in Dedza for one hour to pave way for a rock blasting exercise by a contractor who is constructing a new Weighbridge in the district.
The exercise is expected to be carried out on Sunday, 24th September 2023 from 5:30 am to 6:30 am.
Speaking to MBC, RA Spokesperson, Portia Kajanga, urged the public to stay away from the construction site for a radius of at least a kilometre during the stated period to avoid being injured by rock splinters and other flying objects.
“We will engage traffic police officers who will give guidance to all road users in case the exercise ends earlier,” Kajanga said.
Kajanga has since urged all road users to plan their travel to avoid inconveniences.
