South African Afro-dance artist Makhadzi has been unveiled as a surprise act for this year’s Sand Music Festival, which is set to start this evening.
Organisers of the festival, Impakt Events Management said the coming in of Makhadzi is to show their fans that they are committed to deliver a good event.
The unveiling of the South African star comes in light of growing fears that Jamaica reggae artist Kenyatta Hill may not make it in time for the festival due to flight challenges.
Impakt Events Management director Lucius Banda said the scarcity of forex has affected their planning and execution of the event.
“We have to admit that things have not been rosy for us this year. But our commitment to deliver a good event remains high. That is why we are doing all we can to make up for the knocks we have received,” he said.
Makhadzi is no stranger to the Malawian audience having performed in the country on several occasions. In 2021 she was also among the headliners at the same platform.
