Kenyatta Orders Consolidation Of Demo Related Cases

High Court Judge Kenyatta Nyirenda has ordered for consolidation of an application to set aside the prohibition of Human Rights Ambassadors-HRA protests with another application for an injunction stopping demos for the same organization on July 20 2022. Last Friday, Kingsley Mpaso, Redson Munlo and HRA made an application to the court to set aside the Lilongwe District Commissioner's decision stopping their planned demonstrations this Wednesday. But in a court notice we have seen, Nyirenda says the application is very much similar with case number 2017 of 2022 between John Kwenda and others versus Kingsley Mpaso, Ida Mazinga, Ben Longwe and other unknown people. HRA Demos Pushing For Referendum

Human Rights Ambassadors has notified the Lilongwe District Commissioner's Office of their planned demonstrations slated for 28th September 2022. In the notice, the group's chairperson, Ben Longwe and others, want to force President Lazarus Chakwera and Vice President Saulos Chilima to call for a referendum or recuse themselves from discharging their duties in their positions. This comes weeks after President Chakwera met a section of some Civil Society Organizations leaders which reportedly pledged to opt for engagements as opposed to demonstrations.

The Human Rights Ambassadors (HRA) says they will hold a National wide demonstrations on August 17,2022. In a statement signed by HRA Chairperson Kingsley Mpaso, the Tonse led administration is failing to manage the welfare of Malawians and majority of poor Malawians are suffering. Mpaso says Malawi is fast losing its warm heartedness in Africa because of nepotism and unemployment. He says there is also a series of selective Justice and injustice in the judiciary which needs to change.
