Citizens Against Impunity and Corruption (CAIC), a quasi-political outfit launched by outspoken UTM member Joshua Chisa Mbele and yet another outspoken MCP-affiliated lawyer, Silvester Ayuba James, has made a surprise U-turn against its founding agenda and adopt a mission of safeguarding impunity around the State Vice President, Saulosi Chilima. This is in reaction to a series of protests that started on Thursday in Blantyre and Zomba, then Lilongwe to force President Lazarus Chakwera to resign. Police in Lilongwe have arrested two organisers of todays demos, Joshua Chisa Mbele and Levi Luwembe, and 31 other protesters who are facing charges of inciting violence. National Police spokesperson Peter Kalaya has confirmed to Nation Online a short while ago that the suspects are currently being held at Area 3 Police Station. Lawyer for social media influencer, Joshua Chisa Mbele, Gilbert Khonyongwa confirms that the defamation case between his client and Malawi Defence Force Commander, Vincent Nundwe has been moved to Lilongwe.
