The Ministry of tourism , culture and wildlife has rejected an application by organisers of Winter Amapiano Vibes for South African socialite Zodwa Wabantu famed for her nearly nude performances to grace the show. The show is due to take place at Dominic Hotel in Blantyre on 10th June. An earlier call by the ministry sparked a social media debate with some people arguing the move was a violation of rights. A South African dancer Zodwa Wabantu, real name Rebecca Libram who was poised to perform at Dominic’s Hotel in Blantyre has been banned from performing in Malawi. Minister of Tourism and Culture, Michael Usi confirmed the news to Malawi Broadcasting Corporation saying the ban is to do with her style of performance which cannot be accepted in the country as it demeans women’s dignity. “As a ministry, we do not have issues with her. The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Wildlife has stopped a show scheduled for Dominic's in Blantyre on June 11 2022 featuring controversial South African dancer Zodwa Wabantu. Minister of Tourism , Culture and Wildlife Michael Usi says the ministry penned the organisers not to go ahead with the event as it was deemed not fit for the country. One of the organisers of the event Biggie Lu says they are in the process of negotiating with the ministry to make them understand that their client would not perform in her controversial dressing style. Zodwa Wabantu makes waves for the fact that she performs without wearing underwear. She was banned from performing in Zimbabwe due to the nature of her performances. She was deported in Zambia over similar issues.
