Malawi Revenue Authority-MRA has announced that effective October 1, 2023 payment of Tevet Levy will be done electronically.
Its Marketing and Communications Manager, Wilma Chalulu disclosed this during her presentation at the recent Institute of Chartered Accountants in Malawi-ICAM’s conference in Mangochi.
The levy, that is implemented under TEVET Act, demands every employer to pay 1% of basic payroll into TEVET fund which is managed by TEVET Authority.
Apart from focusing on TEVET Levy, Chalulu also equipped the accountants with information on New Agents Management module in Msonkho Online.
“Msonkho Online is just a system for tax transactions. It is just automation. So, we were updating accountants on the latest module that has been rolled out.
“It allows an organization to assign agents to administer transactions in the system. If you are an organization, you will probably have different accountants. So all you do is that you have an agent who will be to manage all the othe associates in the organization,” she explained.
Again, Chalulu describes the latest Msonkho Online facility as convenient and secure as it is also being adopted by a good number of companies and organizations.
The three day ICAM conference happened under the theme: “Creating Value, Building a Sustainable Economy – Towards Malawi 2063”.
