The Christian Family Movement (CFM) in Malawi is holding its National Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Zomba from 27th to 29th September 2024. This AGM is being held under the Theme; “Walking together as pilgrims of Hope.
The Guest of Honour at this meeting is the Bishop of Zomba Diocese Rt Rev Bishop Alfred Mateyu Chaima.
The meeting started with Holy Mass which was celebrated by bishop Chaima, and concelebrated by the National Chaplain for Family Apostolate in Malawi, Fr Francis Damaseke and the Parish Priest for Sacred Heart Cathedral Parish, Rev Fr Mbendera and other diocesan chaplains.
The meeting is being attended by members of the Christian Family Movement from seven dioceses of Mzuzu, Lilongwe, Dedza, Mangochi, Zomba, Blantyre and Chikwawa. Also present are diocesan Chaplains for the Family Apostolate and leaders of other family movements, including Couples for Christ, Teams of our Lady and Marriage Encounter.
At the start of the meeting, Bishop Chaima thanked the movement for choosing the theme that puts the family at the centre of their movement. He acknowledged the presence of other family movements. He noted that this promoted the spirit of coexistence among church groups. He encouraged them not to look at each other as competitors but complementors.
Fr Cosmas Kinley, the Diocesan Chaplain for Blantyre Arch Diocese is delivering a presentation on the Main Theme, Kuyenda Limodzi ngati Banja Mchiyembekezo (walking together as pilgrims of hope). The presentation will be followed by two other presentations on Financial Literacy in family, and Healthy Living.
Towards the end of the meeting, there will be reports from Diocesan Teams and the National Executive Committee.
The meeting will close with Mass on Sunday, 29th September 2024. At the end of the service, there will be awarding of certificates to deserving dioceses and some individuals.
