Lilongwe, Malawi — Court records reveal that Joseph Odala and Frank Daniel, two suspects implicated in an alleged plot to kill President Lazarus Chakwera, remain at large. The police have so far only managed to arrest Patricia Kaliati in connection with the case.

Kaliati, who is facing charges related to the conspiracy, appeared in court with a robust legal team. She is represented by four prominent lawyers, including Dr. Kalekeni Kaphale SC, Khumbo Soko, Khwima Mchizi, and Gift Katundu. The team’s lead attorney, Dr. Kaphale, is a Senior Counsel (SC) and a former Attorney General of Malawi, bringing considerable experience to the defense.

The details surrounding the alleged plot have not yet been fully disclosed, and authorities have not commented on the ongoing search for Odala and Daniel. Kaliati’s defense team has yet to make any public statements, but legal experts anticipate that her attorneys may challenge the evidence presented by the state and raise questions regarding the circumstances of her arrest.

This case has attracted significant public interest as Malawians closely follow developments. The police, under pressure to locate the remaining suspects, continue to investigate the matter as Kaliati’s legal proceedings move forward in the court system.
