CDEDI Demands Answers from Minister of Energy

Malawi’s worsening fuel crisis has prompted the Centre for Democracy and Economic Development Initiatives (CDEDI) to condemn Minister of Energy Ibrahim Matola’s “deafening silence” on the issue.

Its Executive Director Sylvester Namiwa slammed Matola for failing to address the crisis, which has crippled local industry and left consumers struggling to access fuel.

Namiwa deemed Matola’s silence “unacceptable,” citing the devastating economic and social impact.

Again, CDEDI has given Matola a seven-day ultimatum to provide a clear timeline for resolving the crisis.

“Failure to comply will prompt vigils at his office until the crisis is resolved or until he resigns,” he said.

Namiwa emphasized that Malawian taxpayers deserve answers and action from their leaders. “It’s time for Minister Matola to take responsibility and address the fuel crisis head-on.”

The fuel crisis has sparked widespread concern, with many fearing its impact on the economy and job security.
